QUESTION 007 - Animal Cruelty (Grade 9)

Animals have been utilised by humans for centuries for work, food, sports and entertainment. Recently however, there has been much debate as to whether this is animal cruelty and should be stopped. As animals cannot speak on their behalves many groups such as animal welfare petition for laws to be changed regarding human use of animals.

Choose a way in which humans use animals. This could be for food, entertainment, work, sports or pleasure. You could consider how the animals are treated in this scenario.

Write to persuade the reader why the human use of animals in your chosen scenario is unacceptable.

Structure your piece by:

• Starting with an introduction. An introduction lets your reader know what you are going to write about.
• Put forward your opinion on the topic. Provide reasons for your opinion and most importantly, explain them.
• End with a conclusion. A conclusion sums up your reasons so that your reader is convinced of your opinion.

• write using correct spelling and punctuation.
• write full sentences
• use paragraphs where needed.
• select words carefully.
• review your writing and make edits or corrections.
