10. Review

Now that you've completed your writing, you should review it for mistakes. Many people forget this important step so their final piece isn't as polished as it could be. Even though it is an exam, try to allocate at least two minutes to do this.

How do you review? Below is a guide.

STEP 1

Read your work once and in doing so, highlight areas in your writing that are somewhat unclear so that you can re-write it later. Ask yourself the following questions:

Have I answered the question?

Does it make logical sense and is there a sense of order?

If you have answered 'yes', then move on to step 2. If you have answered 'no', then go back and fix up your writing piece so that you can answer 'yes' to the above two questions.

STEP 2

Re-read your work and re-write the unclear expressions to gain clarity and also correct other areas as you go.

You should be able to note and correct spelling mistakes, tenses and simple grammatical mistakes.

In your review process, give your attention to these things:

Area What to note
Structure It should be ordered and should follow a logical manner. You should follow the structure as prescribed in the planning stage. That is, for argumentative: Introduction, Argument 1, Argument 2, Counter-Argument with the Reorientation and Conclusion. For discussion: Introduction, Benefit 1, Disadvantage 2, Position (if required) and Conclusion.
Spelling Check spelling throughout. A tip for this is to look at individual words as opposed to reading a 'sentence'. When you read individual words, your mind will consider more greatly, the spelling of the word and whether that spelling is correct.
Expression Does everything make sense? Are there any sentences that are too long-winded and confusing? Or are some sentences too short and abrupt? Adding commas or full-stops can help with giving clarity to your writing.
Tone Try to keep an 'objective' tone. Explain things fully and show the premise to conclusion in logical steps that make sense. Eliminate/change anything that sounds overly emotive.
Grammar Watch out for punctuation, especially correct use of quotation marks ("") and commas.

Whilst you are writing, you should consider whether what you are putting forward meets the four quality checks. Additionally, once you have finished writing your piece and reached the reviewing stage, these checks can be applied to your work to see whether it is good or not.

These checks are extremely important. Writing and reviewing your work with these in mind will ensure that you pick up on any issues or mistakes in your work and complete the task with the chance of attaining the best marks possible:

These are the four quality checks:

  1. Have you addressed the question correctly?
  2. Are the arguments solid and carefully explained in relation to the question?
  3. Does it have a sense of order? E.g. counter arguments addressed?
  4. Is the overall tone of your argumentative piece reasonable?

The four quality checks work together and look at the overall written piece. The point here is that to satisfy each of the four checks (and a good argumentative piece would), it is imperative that you consider the entire piece and whether the many elements work together to achieve the checks in question.

Now…let's do some reviews. These are real writing pieces by the way taken from this website!

Plan

Thesis - trolling is a form of cyber bullying and it should be charged criminally

Arguments - trolling should be charged criminally because the victims have harmful and fatal consequences

without the law people are getting hurt online

trolling is a bad attitude that can follow in real life events

It is well known that not everybody in this world can be nice at all times, and many of today's bullies are online trolls, the job given to some person willing to make nasty comments and ruin someone else's day. the reasoning is unknown why they do these online acts and abuse, however at a certain point, it has gone to far and it has to stop.

First of all, there are countless stories on how people are vulnerable and fall to the teasing and abuse of these online cyber bullies. The amount of people who get hurt, and even worse the amount of people who commit suicide and cut themselves are all victims to hurtful trolls making comments online on their facebook or twitter. the worst thing is that these victims are normally teenagers, so the time of their life is also destroyed.

In addition, trolling is the worst habit online and it can lead to some people taking these actions out in real life. Trolling may be fun to do behind the screen of a computer, but without a law charging these criminals and warning them about they're behaviour, in real life if a fight were to break out then everybody would lose out in the end.

Furthermore, if there are no rules for trolling, the victims would continue to get hurt online, and these actions will never stop until a proper message is given out. about 6 years ago, a cyber bullying event of a troll bullying someone daily until they committed suicide was released into the media, and still last year we hear stories of some girls out there commiting suicide and cutting themselves.

In conclusion, this serious act has to stop. People have to get the message and a law placed out to all will certainly bring this crime to the troll's attention. It will ruin the victim's life, if not then even taking their life. Our generation has ip tracking and report/spam options for the victim. this act has to stop. there has to be a law charged criminally against trolls.

plan:

-less social interaction

-anyone can say/do anything

-bullying

ESSAY:

Social networking websites like twitter and facebook allow individuals to share and connect with one another, however, it is often misused and this may result in people being bullied. This is called trolling. Trolling is mostly targeted toward vulnerable people and can result in harmful and fatal consequences. In my opinion, there should be a law against trolling and people who troll should be charged criminally.

Social networking sites enables us to interact with one another - it is meant to be safe. However, there are many cases arguing otherwise. Social networking is in actual fact, not that safe and mainly targets vulnerable people. This is otherwise known as cyber bullying.

Many cases involving cyber bullying have resulted in either a harmful or fatal manner. People tend to be sensitive, and therefore commit suicide to get away from all of this. Nasty or rude comments can compel a person to do so. Cyber bullying is one of the worst forms of bullying, as it is done via social networking sites. This means that alot of people can view what is being said/done and 'contribute' to it. In school, the victim could face many problems, being discluded and looked down upon are some examples.

Trolling affects people, both mentally and emotionally. Sensitive people cannot tolerate the level of hatred so their resort is to kill themselves to get away from the problems that they are facing. When it comes to a certain point, people can't handle it and they break down - through this, they vent out their anger on themselves. This is one of the main points as to why i think that people who troll should be charged with a criminal charge as trolling could be life taking.

I strongly believe that trolling should have a consequence of a criminal charge as it is often a lifetaking matter. It affects people both mentally and physically.

Social networking platforms such as twitter and Facebook allow individuals to connect with each other. However it also effects some people lives. The problem has risen because of regular suicides that occurs due to trolling or cyber bullying. People think that the government shouldn't charge people criminally for trolling other people on Facebook or any other social networking platforms . However, in my opinion i believe that they should charge people criminally. Firstly because the internet will be safe to use and Secondly, it saves many people's lives,

Firstly, they need to charge bullies or trollers criminally because it increases the use of internet and makes other people comfortably to communicate with other people using social network platforms such as, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on. For example, If someone wants go on the social networking site in case of an emergency, They might get scared that someone is going to troll or bully that person which can affect her life.

Secondly, they need to charge bullies or trollers criminally because it can save many peoples lives. Recent studies have shown that majority of suicides that happened in the past years are due to cyber bullying and being trolled on social network platforms.

However, opponents believe that the government shouldn't charge trollers criminally because it the social networking sites fault to allow inappropriate images to be posted all over the world. However, that is not true because the technology has improved so much that it is so easy to change the settings.

Overall, trollers should be charged criminally to save people's lives and and make the internet safe to use.
